God's Word Publishing has spent many years
providing services to the most of the "traditional"
publishing houses. Every time we produce a product for
a publishers, there are certain "standard" editorial
processes that each and every book a publisher produces
receive. These include proofreading, copyediting, and/or
development editing.
Proofreader - This is
a check of the grammatical "nuts and bolts"
done by an experienced editor. Our editor will work through
your manuscript, correcting basic errors in spelling,
grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
Service Timeline: 2-3 weeks
Cost: $.012/wd.
Copy Editor - Proofreading
is good and catches many mistakes, but most manuscripts
can benefit from an Editor spending time on structure,
flow, and consistency. Our Editor will work through your
manuscript from start to finish—often reading it
in its entirety two or three times. They will be looking
for all the items covered in a Proofread, but also addressing
sentence structure, outline, word choices, flow, tense
and consistency. They will add queries, and suggest basic
structural changes and make recommendations to improve
readability. This is our most common editorial service.
Service Timeline: 2-3 weeks
Cost: $.015/wd.
